Buck Sirus and Canon SD750

Two products I've recently bought and am very impressed with ...

A few weeks ago I was looking for a new pocket knife and decided to look at Buck. I had long-ago written them off as bargain-basement junk. I was way off. I chose the Buck Sirus model 298GY and found it for $65 shipped (MSRP is USD $102). This model used ATS-34 steel (I think the same as 154CM) which I've been very happy with on another Benchmade knife.

The blade is thick and solid. The parts of the mechanism that move all feel very substantial, with no excess play in them. Even the lock to prevent accidental opening feels quite secure. This is definitely not a 2nd-rate knife.

If you haven't ever considered a Buck or long ago wrote them off, I recommend giving them a chance. This is a knife I expect to last for many years, and give to my son one day.

Last week we also decided that we needed a new digicam. I was happy with the Canon S200 (2MP) we bought 4 years ago so I checked out Canon again. I chose the new Canon SD750 (7.1 MP). Found it for $300 with an extra battery and 1GB SD card. A very impressive little camera with a huge 3" LCD (pic from PCMag).

Misc:
Canon SD750 at Steve's Digicams
Canon SD750 at DPReview
Canon SD750 at PCMag
