Sadly, I've already ruled out a new or late model MacBook due to price, just too much money for me right now. I would love one of these recent 'netbooks.' I think I've narrowed my search down to the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 and the Acer Aspire One. Both use the Intel Atom N270(1.60GHz). In fact, most netbooks seem to use the Intel Atom and the Intel GMA 950 integrated video.
Not sure which one I'll get, assuming the wife approves, but at the moment I'm leaning towards the Acer. I'm very interested in anyone else's experiences w/ either one. [earlier post]
Pro Dell Inspiron Mini 9:
It's a Dell.
I love the look of the case.
It uses Ubuntu (XP available)
Pro Acer Aspire One:
It's slightly cheaper than the Dell
It has a 120Gb HD instead of the 16GB SSHD in the Dell
A few direct comparisons.

Thanks for all of these links in one place. I'm looking to replace a 12" iBook G4 in the next year or so, so I am very curious about these.
Pro Acer: functional keyboard, you'll get used to the size very fast (I did on my aspire one...)
Cheaper, much bigger HDD for a lot more storage (I can do almost everything I want on it, be it music, photoshop, AutoCAD, etc... and even triple boot Ubuntu, Vista, and XP)
6 cell battery that lasts forever (for me, pretty much the whole day, I rarely bring the power adapter out).
Dell Phail: Where are F1~F12 keys? You have to press Fn+A to Fn+; for F1~F10... and F11/F12 were left out? What kind of moron designed the keyboard?
"oops, you can't F11 full screen anymore..."
"oops, you have to press 2 buttons to get []\, etc"
"oops, where did my quotation marks go? they're below the comma and period."
"oops, I guess that leaves no room for right ctrl/alt too..."
Not trying to sound hateful or anything, but one look at the Dell Inspiron keyboard makes me wanna puke. (and I normally have nothing against dell)
Also look into the EEE 1000's... it has a VERY workable keyboard
(even easier to use than Aspire One...) but probably not the EEE 9xx's smaller keyboards. I picked up a EEE 1000 and started typing (being used to my 15.4" laptop full keyboard)... zero typos.
Good luck! =P
